 In a devastating turn of events, Ghanaian footballer Raphael Dwamena has passed away after collapsing during an Albanian Superliga game between FK Egnatia and KF Partizani. The 28-year-old athlete collapsed in the 23rd minute of the match and was swiftly transported to the hospital, where he was, unfortunately, declared dead.


News of Dwamena's untimely demise was reported by NewsGhana, a Ghanaian news reporter, on Saturday. The talented striker had been playing with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) due to a pre-existing heart problem. His health challenges came to light during a failed medical examination when he was on the verge of joining Brighton.


Albania Footy shared the heartbreaking news on Twitter, expressing, "Rest in Peace to KF Egnatia’s Raphael Dwamena. The Ghanaian collapsed on the pitch during the Superliga match between Egnatia and Partizani. He later passed away in the hospital at the age of 28."


Dwamena, known for his contributions to the Swiss side FC Zurich, leaves behind a somber void in the football community.
