Bricklayer Allegedly Rape of 8-Year-Old Daughter in Ogun State, Mother Seeks Justice

Blessing Onoja, a mother of three, has expressed deep concern over the alleged rape of her eight-year-old daughter by a man known as Omoh in Ijaiye Street, Ogba Ayo, Ogun State. Speaking to a correspondent on Thursday, Onoja shared the distressing details of discovering blood and water coming from her daughter's private parts about two months ago.

 

Initially attributing it to a possible toilet infection, Onoja attempted to address the issue with over-the-counter drugs. However, as the symptoms persisted, she sought advice from her landlady. It was during this consultation that the young girl reportedly confessed to being assaulted by a bricklayer in their neighborhood.

 

Onoja, a single mother who works long hours, expressed her anguish over leaving her daughter in the care of her 17-year-old son while she goes to sell food in the Oshodi area. She narrated her helplessness, stating that despite medical attention, her daughter continued to experience bleeding and fluid discharge.

 

In a bid to seek justice for her daughter, Onoja reported the case to the Ntabo Police Station in Sango Ota on Monday. However, the PUNCH reported that  as of the last update, the alleged perpetrator had not been invited, and he was reportedly not present.

 

Expressing her plea for justice, Onoja emphasized the need for the culprit to be exposed and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others. She urged authorities to take swift action on the matter.

 

In response, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stated that the case had not been adequately reported, and the police could not make any arrests without proper documentation. Odutola urged the concerned parties to formally report the incident to the police station to initiate the investigation process.
