The collation process, spearheaded by the returning officer, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University in Oye, Ekiti, commenced at 2:40 a.m. on Sunday amid protests from party agents, setting the stage for a series of controversies.
As the collation progressed, dissenting voices among party agents could be heard, with one agent audibly questioning, "Where are we rushing to?" The simmering tensions reached a boiling point when a physical confrontation erupted between two unidentified party agents, casting a shadow over the collation proceedings.
The identities of the involved individuals remained undisclosed at the time of this report. However, the skirmish prompted their removal from the collation venue. The incident underscores the heightened stakes and charged atmosphere surrounding the electoral process in Imo State, raising concerns about the overall conduct and transparency of the ongoing collation exercise.
