In a gruesome incident that has sent shockwaves through Rivers State, the Police Command paraded a suspected murderer and organ harvester, Demian Okoligwe. The suspect, a 400-level student in the Department of Petrochemical Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt, is accused of killing and dismembering his female lover, Justina Otuene, a 300-level student at the same university.
Commissioner of Police Nwonyi Emeka provided chilling details, stating that Okoligwe invited Otuene to his house, where he allegedly committed the heinous act and harvested her organs. The incident came to light when a neighbor reported a foul odor emanating from Okoligwe's residence, prompting an investigation by Ozuoba Division operatives.
"On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at about 3:30 pm, operatives of Ozuoba Division received a complaint from a good Samaritan and neighbor (name withheld) of Road 20 at the back of NTA Ozuoba," Commissioner Emeka recounted. Detectives, led by the DPO of the station, discovered a ghana-must-go bag containing the lifeless body of Justina Otuene upon forcing open Okoligwe's door.
The suspect attempted to flee but was traced and arrested for further inquiry. Justina Otuene's body was recovered and deposited at the mortuary, with a preliminary investigation underway. The case has been transferred to the state CID for a discreet investigation
