New EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede
The Senate has officially endorsed Ola Olukoyede to assume the role of Chairman at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Additionally, Muhammad Hammajoda's appointment as the Secretary of the anti-graft agency was also confirmed.
It was reported that during their screening process on Wednesday, both Olukoyede and Hammajoda, who were appointed by President Bola Tinubu about a week ago, underwent scrutiny by the upper chamber. Their appointments are effective for an initial term of four years, with the possibility of renewal.
Ola Olukoyede, along with some of the management staff of the Commission, appeared before the National Assembly during this confirmation process. This development marks Olukoyede's official assumption of the position of EFCC Chairman, succeeding Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa, who had been suspended by President Tinubu nearly four months ago.
