Kaduna Operation Breakthrough: Nigerian Army Apprehends Two Arms Suppliers to Terrorists and Recovers Weapons

In a decisive move, the troops of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army have successfully apprehended two individuals suspected of supplying ammunition to terrorists. This significant operation, conducted in the Awon general area of Kachia Local Government in Kaduna State, unfolded in the early hours of October 24.

Arrest of Terrorists' Collaborators and Ammunition Suppliers

Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Musa Yahaya, confirmed the arrests, stating, "Following credible intelligence, troops of 1 Division, Nigerian Army, arrested two terrorists’ collaborators and ammunition suppliers."

The suspects were tracked down based on information provided by a previously arrested collaborator in the troops' custody. The operation led to the apprehension of the individuals in their residences around Awon.

Recovered Items

During the operation, the troops uncovered a cache of weapons carefully hidden in the criminals' compound. The recovered items include a locally made AK 47 rifle, two Dane guns, eight rounds of 9mm ammunition, seven live cartridges, and five shells of expended cartridges.

Engagement in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area

In a separate development, troops engaged terrorists and criminal elements in a gun duel during a clearance operation around the Dogon daji-Saulawa general area in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. The fierce encounter resulted in the dispersal of the criminals in disarray.

Items Recovered in the Clearance Operation

The soldiers emerged victorious, recovering valuable items from the criminals, including a G3 rifle, 16 motorcycles, two locally made guns, and a mobile phone.

Directive from Command

Maj.-Gen. Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander of Operation Whirl Punch, has charged the troops to maintain the momentum. Their directive is to continue clearing all criminal elements from the division's areas of responsibility.

This successful operation underscores the commitment of the Nigerian Army in ensuring the safety and security of the populace, as they relentlessly combat terrorism and criminal activities.
