At the early hour on Monday 13th March, 2023 a wild
fire outbreak destroyed many shops in Singer Market in kano state in Nigeria affecting the old Savanah Building in
that area.
According to Kano State Fire Service public
relations officer, Saminu Abdullahi, that said “We received a distress call at midnight at about 02:18a.m from
one Sai’du Hamza that there was a fire outbreak at the market which is in Fagge Local
Government Area of the state,”
He also said “On receiving
the information, we quickly sent some of our personnel and fire fighting
vehicles to the scene of the incident at about 02:22 a.m to put off the fire so
as not to affect other shops.”
The cause of the fire outbreak and the value cost of shops and properties
destroyed are yet to be ascertained.
This will be the third time in this month of March that such
outbreak will occur in the state. Kurmi
market suffered the same fate on 1st march destroying millions of
naira worth properties while there was another inferno at Rimi market in Kano
Municipal LGA some days after the Kurmi market.
